Dustin Horning ran an amazing 800-meter race in a time of 1:56.80, surpassing the record time set by Jerry Fisher in 1978. Dustin’s time placed him first in the Sunday News Track and Field Honor Roll as the fastest 800-meter runner in the Lancaster-Lebanon League so far this year. Additionally, Dustin also holds this season’s fastest time in the LL League for the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:37.00. Larrian Payne broke his own high jump record, which he set last year by jumping an amazing 6'-6". His record-breaking jump placed him in the Sunday News Track and Field Honor Roll as the highest high jumper in the Lancaster-Leabanon League. The Elizabethtown Area High School boys volleyball team recently made a donation to the local branch of Big {Dime Pass} Brothers Big Sisters as part of their “Dime Pass” initiative. The check presentation was held before the start of the team’s contest versus Lancaster Mennonite High School. The fundraiser recognized the importance of teamwork and rewarded successful attempts at passing the ball to the setter where the setter did not have to move from his position. For each successful pass, a dime was added to the fundraising kitty. All told, the team donated $73.10 in recognition of the 731 successful pass attempts during the 2007-2008 campaign. Presenting the check were this year’s team captains, Michael Fritchman, Pratik Patel and Connor Toews. Accepting the check on behalf of the Elizabethtown branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters was Luann Smith, a case worker for the organization.
